Hyper-Extended Refinery Gas Analysis (RGA) and Oxygenates Using Four Detectors

Analyzer Description

Configuration:
6-valve, 7-columns (packed and capillary), TCD / TCD / FID / FID
Sample type:
Natural gas, sour gas, other refinery gases
Components separated:
C1 – C7, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide
Additional column and inlet for oxygenated hydrocarbon separation
Lower detection limits:
20 ppm for hydrocarbons, 100 ppm for permanent gases, 500 ppm for H2S, 400 ppm for carbon monoxide, 10 ppm for oxygenates
Methods met:
ASTM D1945, ASTM D1946, ASTM D7833, UOP 539, ASTM D7423, ASTM D7754, Wasson-ECE 383D-OXY, W3391

Typical Chromatogram

Key Features and Benefits

  • The oxygenate analysis is performed at the same time as the other analyses
  • The backflush peak can be tailored to specific samples (e.g. C6+ or C8+ backflush composite peaks)
  • Oxygenates do not contact the hydrocarbon analysis column which eliminates peak shifting
