Applications

Polymer Grade Ethylene and Propylene Analysis by MSD and PDHID

Analyzer Description

Configuration:
6-valve, 6-column (micro-packed, capillary), internal vaporizer, MSD, PDHID
Sample type:
Polymer grade ethylene and propylene
Components separated:
MSD: arsine, phosphine, hydrogen sulfide, carbonyl sulfide, methyl mercaptan (methanethiol), ethyl mercaptan, ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, n-propanol, MTBE, t-butanol, sec-butanol, n-butanol
PDHID: hydrogen, oxygen/argon composite, nitrogen, methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide
Lower detection limit:
MSD components: 0.05 ppm
PDHID components: 0.05 ppm
Methods met:
Wasson-ECE 462B, Wasson-ECE 462 (propylene only)

Typical Chromatogram

Impurities in Ethylene (PDHID)

Key Features and Benefits

  • Oxygen will be detected but will not be quantified. For accurate oxygen analysis an external oxygen sensor is required.
  • Internally purged valves for the PDHID analysis
  • Fused silica lined tubing ensures repeatability and the lowest detection limits.
  • On-board vaporizer converts liquid propylene to gas phase prior to injection for more repeatable analyses
